iGive…

Okay - another Apple event, another wrong guess…kinda. I thought the famous “one more thing” would be two iPhones, not that they’d mass-market the thing. Still, kind of close is better than being a Paul Thurrott and always being either blind or ignorant.

Perhaps I’ll just do movie reviews and recipes from herein.  wink

iPhone 2.0 - what’s missing…

So far, so good - the iPhone 2.0 will do gos and push, sit in Apple’s new mobileme cloud and be cheaper. And I like it - I have a 1.0 device and I’ll likely upgrade at some point. But did you miss the same things I did?

  • The one big feature on 3G phones is SENDING video - where’s the front camera? Or is it one-way traffic to the phone?
  • For that matter - creating video on the iPhone itself. When will Apple enable this?
  • Apple’s no longer doing revenue sharing with AT&T, so the $199 price likely sits under a contract. But at what level?
  • Um, three little words - cut and paste. Where the hell is it? Even if it’s done like my Newton did it, I’d be a very happy camper.

    • Shares were down after the announcement - CNBC says it’s because Steve Jobs didn’t actually hold one in his hand, pointing to a presumed lack of supply. Frankly, I think if Steve wanted one, it’d be in his pocket.

    The WWDC though is about software - 75% of the show was about programming, services or the new cloud layer, and the people there could have the SDK on the spot. Dangling a new device in front a crowd of geeks - especially one they can’t get for a month - well, that’s just cruel. Steve isn’t that mean.

    Low-end iPhone Rumors - $200?

    Back in on May 16th I took a look at the rumors concerning iPhone sales in India and made a guess at a low-end iPhone for the Proletariat.

    Now Kevin Rose jumps on the rumor bandwagon with a video - a friend of a friend, kind of thing - with the same idea and a price-point: $200.

    No logic to it, no analysis. Just plop - instant rumor.
